Dave Chappelle was not welcomed with open arms in Detroit last week.
The stand-up comedian did a two-hour performance at the Fillmore Theater as part of his comeback tour and based on some fans' reactions... he wasn't very funny.
In a video posted on TMZ, Chappelle is heckled by his audience with profanities and rude comments. During and after the show, people complained about the quality of his jokes on social media, claiming that they didn't get their money's worth. Many even asked the theater for refunds.
One upset fan wrote, "Horrible, don't go. Second show last night was ridiculous. Walked out. Did not get what I paid for... refunds please!"
It seems that the comedian didn't crack too many original jokes, but rather played off the audience. When someone would shout a comment at him when the theater was quiet, he would respond with some improv. Some didn't mind this set-up. One comment read, "Went to the second show last night. Dude did a spectacular job. He didn't do many jokes, but he freestyle it all night. Crowd interaction was great. Some wud yell something and he wud make it a joke. #funny..i understand some ppl were frustrated with the flow of show but all the stuff he was saying was funny. Ppl need to lighten up."
